Wichita Art Show Crash Course

Harvester Arts and the National Association of Independent Artists are teaming up to bring NAIA’s An Intro to Art Festivals and an Art Show Crash Course to Wichita.

Have you ever wondered what it takes to exhibit your art at a juried art festival? This is your opportunity to find out.

Harvester Arts and the National Association of Independent Artists are teaming up to bring you An Intro to Art Festivals. This free one-hour class is designed to give artists a realistic idea of what it takes to get started. You will learn about the application process, what gear you need, the costs involved, and the benefits.

An Intro to Art Festivals is April 30th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Harvester Arts 120 E. 1st St. N in Wichita. This is a free class and no registration is needed.

For more information, you can contact Cort Anderson with the National Association of Independent Artist at eaw@naiaartists.org.

The Art Show Crash Course was created to help new art festival artists be more successful.

Art festivals can be a great source of income for artists but it often takes a few years to get there and many new artists leave before they get there. The Art Show Crash Course is designed to teach new artists many things that might otherwise take years to learn and to help make festivals profitable in less time.

Each Crash Course is a little different, we use input from local artists to craft a curriculum that is most beneficial to them. In Wichita, we will be covering the following topics in depth.

     • The real cost of doing an art fair.

     • Pricing your work.

     • Selecting the right art fairs.

     • Art fair equipment, tents, displays, and vehicles.

     • What you need for your first fair.

Plus, we will touch on other topics like Life on the road and Art show etiquette.

Instructor Cort Anderson, NAIA Chairperson, brings to the course not only his 15+ years of art festival experience but that of many other veteran artists as well.

The Art Show Crash Course is May 17th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Harvester Arts 120 E. 1st St. N in Wichita. The cost is $50 per person and includes course materials and lunch. The class size is limited,  please register early at naiaartists.org/ictascc. The deadline for registration is May 13th.
